Apologies and Warning

Hi Everyone,

I just started reading “Afterworlds” and felt a surge of emotions while reading the first few chapters. I’m not trying to give away any spoilers, but the book starts with a mass shooting. With the recent shooting in Orlando, I worry that this book might be overwhelming or upsetting for some readers. At the same time, I know that some of you may appreciate the opportunity to discuss some of the feelings you’ve been struggling with this week.

I wanted to apologize to anyone who started reading the book and wasn’t prepared for this mirror to recent events. I chose the book a couple of months ago and thought it would be a wonderful choice based on reviews.

If you still want to read “Afterworlds” and discuss the book, great! If you aren’t ready to read a book that starts with a violent terrorist attack, I completely understand. I am going to look into an alternative book, I’ll try my best to find one that is lighthearted, and order it to come in ASAP. There will be simultaneous discussions going on and I want you all to chose the only participate in what you are comfortable with.

Again, I’m deeply sorry to anyone who started “Afterworlds” and was upset by the content. It was not my intention to upset anyone with a book selection. I hope you are on the lookout for an update to July’s book selection next week.

Sincerely,

Aimee
